 It is the membrane of the gizzard of Gallus domesticus Brisson, family phasianidae. The membrane peeled off, it is washed clean, dired in the sun and then ground into powder to be sued raw or stir-baked.

[ Medicinal Properties ]: Sweet, neutral; relate to spleen, stomach , small intestine and bladder meridians.

[ Medicinal Efficacies]: Promote digestion and relieve dyspepsia; arrest seminal emission and relieve enuresis.

[ Clinical Application ]: 1. Indigestion     It has efficacious action for promoting digestion and can strengthen the spleen and stomach, for which it is used for indigestion for various reasons. For light cases, it could be ground into powder for oral use; for heavy cases, it is combined with Shanzha, Maiya to enhance the efficacy; for causes with spleen-deficiency, combined with Renshen, Baizhu and Shanyao.

2. Enuresis and emission       When used, it is usually combined with Tusizi, Sangpiaoxiao and other such medicinals which have the actions of warming kidney and arresting seminal emission to strengthen curative effect. In addition, Jineijin also has the actions of removing hardness and resolving the stone, for which it is usually combined with Jinqiancao to treat urinary stones or gall-stone.

[ Usage and Dosage ]: 3-9 g. If taken after being groung into powder, 1.5-3g.

鸡内金为雉科动物家鸡Gallus gallus domesticus Brisson 的沙囊内壁。全国各地均产。杀鸡后，取出鸡肫，趁热剥取内壁，洗净，干燥。生用、炒用或醋制入药。
