Qinpi is the dried twig bark or dired bark of Fraxinus rhynchophylla Hance, Fraxinus chinensis Roxb., Fraxinus szaboana Lingelsh. or Fraxinus stylosa Lingelsh., pertaining to Oleaceae. The bark is peeled in spring and spring, and then sun dried. The raw form is used.
[ Medicinal Properties ]: Bitter, astringent and cold; relate to liver ,gallbladder and large intestine meridians.
[ Medicinal Efficacies ]: Clelar heat, dry dampness; stop dysentery and leucorrhea; clear liver and improve vision.
[ Usage and Dosage ]: 6-12g. Also it is used externally.
[ Precautions ]: Avoid with deficiency-cold in spleen and stomach.
[ Clinical Applications ]: 1. Damp-heat, dysentery and leucorrhea Qinpi treats dysentery due to damp-heat, manifesting as tenesmus, combined with Baitouwen, Huanglian and Huangbo; for example in Baitouweng Decoction. Also it treats leucorrhea due to down-pour of damp-heat, combined with Mudanpi and Danggui.
2. Liver heat, reddish eyes and blurred vision For fire accumulation in liver meridians, manifesting as reddish eyes and blurred vision, it is used by itself as decoction for eye washing. It treats wind-heat in liver meridians, manifesting as blurred vision, combined with Qinjiao and Fangfeng.
秦皮 为木犀科植物苦枥白蜡树Fraxinus rhynchophylla Hance、白蜡树F. chinensis Roxb.、尖叶白蜡树F. szaboana Lingelsh.或宿柱白蜡树F. stylosa Lingelsh.的干燥枝皮干皮。产于吉林、辽宁、河南等地。春、秋二季剥取,晒干。生用。
