It is the dried fructification of Ganoderma Lucidum (Leyss.ex  Fr.) Karst, or Ganoderma sinense Zhao, Xu et Zhang, family Polyporaceae. Besides the wild ones, now most of them are cultivated on farms. It is collected all the year round. The impurities such as rotten wood, sand and earth or the lower stripe of substrate are removed, and then it is dried in the shade or baked at 40-50 oc

[ Medicinal Properties ]: Sweet and neutral; relate to heart, lung, liver and kidney meridians.

[ Medicinal Efficacies ]: Tonify qi and calm mind; relieve cough and dyspnea.

[ Clinical Applications ]: 1. Agitation, insomnia ad fright palpitation    It is ground into powder for oral administration alone or combined with Danggui, Baishao and Suanzaoren.

2. Consumptive syndrome       It is usually combined with Shanzhuyu, Renshen and Dihuang.

3. Cough with Profuse sputum, cold body and limbs     It is used by itself or with Dangshen, Wuweizi , Ganjiang and Banxia.

[ Usage and Dosage ]: 6-12g is decocted for oral administration; 1.5-3g of powder is taken.

灵芝为多孔菌科真菌赤芝Ganoderma lucidum (Leyss.ex Fr.) Karst.或紫芝Ganoderma sinense Zhao, Xu et Zhang的干燥子实体。主产于四川、浙江、江西、湖南等地。除野生外，现多为人工培育品种。全年可采收，除去杂质，剪除附有朽木，泥沙或培养基的下端菌柄，阴干或在40~50℃烘干。
