It is the dried matured fruit of Foeniculum vulgare Mill., family Umbelliferae. When the fruits begin to mature in autumn, the plants are cut off, the fruit are beaten down, and dried in the sunshine. After the impurities are removed, the raw form or stir-baked with salty water can be utilized for medicine.
[ Medicinal Properties ]: Pungent in flavor, warm inn nature; relate to the liver, kidney, spleen and stomach meridians.
[ Medicinal Efficacies ]: Expel cold and relieve pain; regulate qi and harmonize stomach.
[ Clinical Applications ]: 1. Colic of cold type with abdominal pain, sagging feeling and distending pain of testis, dysmenorrhea In treatig colic of cold type with abdominal pain, it is usually used in combination with Rougui, Wuyao, Chuanlianzi, such as in the formula Tiantai Wuyao Powder; in treating for sagging feeling and distending pain of testis, it is usually used in combination with Juhe, Lizhihe; in treating for dysmenorrhea due to deficiency-cold in Thoroughfare and Conception vessels, it is often used in combination with Danggui, Rougui, Chuanxiong.
2. Distending pain in epigastric and abdomen, loss appetitie, vomiting, diarrhea In treating for cold pain in epigastric and abdomen due to congealing cold and qi stagnation, it is usually used in combination with Ganjiang, Wuzhuyu; in treating for vomiting and loss appetite due to cold stomach, it is often used together with Ganjiang , Muxiang.
In addition, this medicinal can be used to treat for abdominal pain due to congealing cold, by ironing-cauterizing therapy on the abdominal area, after being stir-baked to hot and wrapped with cloth, which has good analgesic effect.
[ Usage and Dosage ]: 3-6g is used for oral use, and appropriate aount for external use.
[ Annotation ]: Bajiaohuixiang Its source is from the fried natured fruit of lllicium verum Hook, little arbor, family agnoliaceae. It is also named Da-huixiang. Its property, function, usage and dosage are similar to xiaohuixiang, only the effect is weak.
茴香为伞形科植物茴香Foeniculum vulgare Mill.的干燥成熟果实。全国各地均有栽培。秋季果实初熟时采割植株,晒干,打下果实,除去杂质。生用或盐水炙用。
香,温中快气之药也。方龙潭曰,此药辛香发散,甘平和胃,故《唐本草》善主一切诸气,如心腹冷气、暴疼心气、呕逆胃气、腰肾虚气、寒湿脚气、小腹弦气、膀胱水气、阴
疝气、阴汗湿气、阴子冷气、阴肿水气、阴胀滞气。其温中散寒,立行诸气,及小腹少腹至阴之分之要品也。”
