Danzhuye is the dried leaf and stem of lophatherum gracile Brongn., pertaining to Gramineae. It is collect before heading time. After sun dried, it is cut into slices. The raw form is used.

[ Medicinal Properties ]: Sweet, bland and cold; relate to heart, stomach, and small intestine meridians.

[ Medicinal Efficacies ]: Clear heat, purge fire; remove agitation and promote urination.

[ Usage and Dosage ]: 6-9g.

[ Clinical Applications ]: 1. Stomatitis, reddish urine, heat stranuria and astringent pain     Zhuye treats stomatitis and tongue sore due to abundant fire in heart and stomach as well as transmission heat to small intestine manifesting as heat stranguria with astringent pain, in combination with Huashi, Baimaogen and Dengxincao.

2. Agitation and thirst in warm disease     It is indicated for consumption of fluids in warm disease, manifesting as agitation and thirst, usually in combination with Shigao and Lugen.
