It is the dried bark of Albizia julibrissin Durazz, family Legumiosae. The bark is cut from the tree in summer and autumn, dried in the sun and then cut into segments for use.

[ Medicinal Properties ]: Sweet and neutral; relate to heart, liver and lung meridians.

[ Medicinal Efficacies ]: Calm mind and alleviate mental depression; activate blood circulation and relieve swelling.

[ Clinical applications ]: 1. Emotional injury manifested as anger, mental depression, restlessness, amnesia and insomnia        It is used alone or combined with Baiziren and Longchi to treat emotional injury, manifested as anger, mental depression, restlessness, amnesia and insomnia.

2. Fracture caused by trauma, abscess of internal organs, carbuncle swelling      For fracture, it is usually combined with Danggui and Chuanxiong; for pulmonary abscess, with Bailian; for carbuncles and ulcers, with Pugongying and Yejuhua.

[ Usage and Dosage ]: 6-12g. It is ground into powder and mixed to apply externnally with appropriate dosage.

[ Annotation ]: Hehuanhua       It has the same source with hehuanpi and it is the flower that is used as a medicinal . The flowers are collected in sunny days of summer and dried in the sun. The raw are used. It is sweet, neutral and attributive to the heart and liver meridians with functions of alleviating mental depression and calming mind. It treats vexation and insomnia alone or in combination with other tranquilizing medicinals. The dosage is 4.5-9g.

合欢皮为豆科植物合欢Albizia julibrissin Durazz.的干燥树皮。全国大部分地区都有分布，主产于长江流域各省。夏、秋二季剥取树皮，晒干，切段生用。
